THROUGH SHARED SPACE

When we started Drop, we set out to create a space where coffee was about more than just waking up in the morning. In our space, coffee became a platform for human connection, for empathy and learning, for friendship. From the seating arrangment, to the interior design, to personnel and culture, and even the beverages themselves, Drop was architected to bring people together.

We succeeded in some really interesting ways, chief among them, the team that founded it remain close friends and collaborators, and I'm proud of the work we did together to bring people closer.

At first we had high interest from our local community, but began to lose money as imprecise recipe execution and under-construction interior led customers to Starbucks instead.

Sad to have failed, but grateful to have learned, I moved on to other projects.
